Ingredients
5-Spice Sauce:
½ cup Beef broth
¼ cup Coconut aminos or 3 tablespoons Soy sauce
1 teaspoon Chinese 5 spice
½ teaspoon Red pepper flakes
2 tablespoons Sweetener of choice
4 cloves Garlic
1 tablespoon Grated ginger
¼-½ teaspoon Xanthan gum, to thicken (optional)
Beef & Broccoli Stir Fry:
2 tablespoons Avocado oil
1 teaspoon Sesame oil
1 pound Stir fry beef strips, cut into equal sized pieces
2 medium Broccoli crowns, chopped into florets
2-200g packages Full Green Cauli Rice
Sesame seeds, for serving
Instructions
1. In a small bowl or mason jar, combine the ingredients for the 5-Spice Sauce. Stir well and set aside.
2. Heat both oils in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the beef to a bowl, pat dry with paper towel, and season with a pinch of salt and pepper.
3. Add the beef to the skillet in one layer, making sure not to overlap or overcrowd. You may do this in two groups if your pan is smaller. Let the beef cook without disturbing for 2-3 minutes until edges start to crisp. Flip, and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside on a plate.
4. Add the broccoli, and stir very well, scraping up any bits on the bottom of the skillet. Add the 5-spice stir fry sauce and cover. Let the broccoli steam for 4-6 minutes, or until slightly tender. Add the beef back to the skillet to heat through, and serve with cauliflower rice (see Note). Garnish with more red pepper flakes, and sesame seeds.
Note: To prepare the Full Green Cauli Rice, empty the contents into a non-stick pan over medium heat, and stir to heat through for 2-3 minutes. Salt to taste. OR Microwave on high in a microwave safe bowl for 2 minutes 30 seconds.
